The initial appointment is 2.5 hours in length. Prior to your appointment, a patient contract will be provided for your review, and we ask that you bring this with you along with a check for your annual retainer. Upon coming to the office, an electronic chart will be created for you that will house all your medical information, history, etc. You will be asked to provide the names and contact information of any prior/current physicians so medical records can be requested if needed.
You can also come prepared to your visit with a list of medications, dosages, medical and surgical history as well as the knowledge of any pertinent family history to share.
Upon completion of the history, you will undergo a physical exam which will include any necessary screening tests, EKG, and Body Composition analysis.
After your first visit you will receive a comprehensive analysis with recommendation for additional opportunities to delve into history and treating that may possibly reveal unknown and yet un-diagnosed issues and problems.
Upon completion of the exam, Dr. Burick will provide you with any orders for labs, studies or tests as well as any referrals that may be needed. A follow up appointment will be made to see Dr. Burick before you leave the office.

Dr. Burick feels that a proactive approach to one’s health is better than a reactive approach. She advocates a healthy life style including good nutrition, exercise, and good behaviors in addition to screening for health issues before they develop into diseases.
When Dr. Burick identifies that a patient requires a consultation with a specialist, a referral letter is created and an appointment is either facilitated by Dr. Burick or her staff. Pertinent records and information will be sent the physician’s office in advance of the appointment. We encourage our patients to remind their consultants to communicate with Dr. Burick via written correspondence or phone calls to provide the most expeditious communication in order to support the needs of the patient.
Dr. Burick has developed close relationships with medical consultants within this community as well as outside at various tertiary and quaternary care facilities including Johns Hopkins, Temple, Penn State, University of Pennsylvania, Cleveland Clinic etc.
Dr. Burick and her team pride themselves on providing great coordination of care. We work to keep open lines of communication between other medical providers, Dr. Burick and the patient. We do this through phone calls, text messaging, emails, and letters…..whatever it takes to ensure the patient receives the best care possible!
Of note, we have a number of patients who reside both part and full time out of the state of PA. Dr. Burick coordinates their care with the local physicians in their community to get the care that a patient requires.
